Congressman Bob Filner (D-51st District) briefed 50 members and friends of the Escondido Democratic Club on what recent elections will mean in Congress during the 2007 session. Filner, who represents southern San Diego County and Imperial County, will chair the Veterans Affairs Committee. He covered a wide range of topics, from Iraq to health care, education to veterans issues. |

EDC continued efforts to remind Escondido residents that there are Democrats in the city through its booth at the Sunday, Oct. 22 Escondido Street Faire. The booth location, in the center of Grand Avenue between Juniper and Kalmia, allowed maximum visibility for Democratic candidates and for voter registration. |

| EDC sponsored what Mayor Lori Holt Pfeiler called "the largest forum" of the campaign Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Joslyn Senior Center. All candidates were invited and Mayor Pfeiler and challenger Tom D'Agosta, Council candidates Elizabeth Gabrych, Darol Castor, Marie Waldron, Erik Richard and Olga Diaz participated. The recently passed immigration ordinance was a hot topic, but the candidates also discussed development, sewage treatment and their vision for a future Escondido. |
